Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to honor the courage and valour of the Indian soldiers who fought against all odds to protect the country’s sovereignty. The conflict began in May 1999, when Pakistani troops infiltrated into the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army, led by General Ved Prakash Malik, launched a daring operation to evict the intruders. The soldiers faced treacherous terrain, extreme weather conditions, and heavy artillery fire, but their unwavering resolve and unshakeable patriotism ultimately led to victory.

The Kargil War was a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. 527 soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, and many more were injured. Their valour and sacrifice will always be remembered and revered.

Today, as we celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas, we pay tribute to the bravehearts who conquered the impossible. Their legacy inspires us to stand strong and united in the face of adversity, and to always defend our nation’s honour and integrity.
